Mid-Coast Hurricane and Disaster Conference

The Golden Crescent Health Care Coalition would like to invite you to the fifth annual Mid Coast Hurricane & Disaster Conference to be held Thursday, April 19, 2018 at the Victoria Community Center in Victoria, Texas. Doors open at 8:00am for on-site registration, Judge Zeller will welcome us at 8:30am, and Meteorologist John Metz will give an opening keynote presentation on Hurricane Harvey starting at 8:45am. The keynote closing speaker will wrap up the conference at 2:30pm, and we will follow with door prizes and the grand prize generator raffle.

Registration for the conference includes the opportunity to hear from professionals in the Golden Crescent region who led the community through the preparedness, response, and recovery of Hurricane Harvey. Our keynote presentations will feature Meteorologist John Metz to give an overview of Hurricane Harvey and the upcoming hurricane season, and individuals directly involved with the Sutherland Springs church shooting will give an overview on the quick response efforts of the community. Our sessions will cover topics such as first responder’s mental health during disaster, emergency communications: lessons learned, effects of disaster on faith-based communities, public utilities overview, education on alcohol awareness, and drones and robotics usage in disasters and emergencies. There will also be multiple Stop the Bleed courses available intended to train, equip, and empower bystanders to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives.

We will have a number of vendors for you to interact with during the conference, as well as the opportunity for a first-hand look at regional assets and equipment used to respond to emergencies and disasters.

Pre-registration tickets are available now for $25/tkt. Tickets will be $30/tkt at the door.
